Find my crew

Enter three or four dates you remember: a day shift, a night, a day off. It tries every rotation, crew and start day, shows what fits, and opens your calendar.

Days you remember

For each date, choose what you worked, or “Any shift” if you aren’t sure whether it was a day or a night.

Day 1
Day 2
Day 3

Pick a date you worked or had off, and say which. Three or four dates usually find one schedule.

Kelly days are not tried: leave them out, or enter only days you worked.

How the crew finder works

A rotation repeats on a fixed cycle: 28 days for DuPont, 14 for 2-2-3, 6 for 48/96. Every crew works the same cycle, started on a different day. So a few remembered days pin down two things: which rotation you are on, and where you are in its cycle. The finder tries every rotation of the shift schedule generator, the day crew and the night crew of fixed patterns, and every possible start day, and keeps the ones that match every date you enter.

Which dates to enter

  • Three or four dates usually leave one answer. If more than one schedule fits, the finder names a date that tells them apart: look that date up on your roster and add it.
  • Mix work days and days off. A day off rules out as many schedules as a shift does.
  • Spread them out over two or three weeks rather than picking days in a row.
  • Not sure whether it was a day or a night? Choose Any shift.
  • Already know your rotation? Pick it under Rotation to look only at its crews.

Crew letters

Crew letters (A, B, C, D, or platoons on firefighter rotations) are names an employer gives, and they follow no single standard: your A shift may start the cycle on a different day from the A in our calendars. So the finder doesn’t guess a letter. It gives the day your crew’s cycle started, which is all a shift calendar needs, and its link opens that calendar already set to your crew. Your posted rotation calendar or supervisor can confirm the letter.

When nothing fits

  • Traded, covered or overtime shifts aren’t part of your rotation: leave those days out.
  • Kelly days aren’t tried. Enter days you worked and regular days off only.
  • A mistyped date: with three or more dates and no match, the finder lists the schedules that fit all but one date, and names that date.
  • A rotation that isn’t listed: choose My own cycle and type it, one letter per day (D day, N night, E evening, X 24-hour, - off). Every start day is tried.

Frequently asked questions

How do I know which crew I am on?

Enter a few dates you worked or had off. The finder tests every rotation and start day and shows the schedules that fit, with your next two weeks. Your employer’s posted rotation calendar or your supervisor can confirm the crew letter.

How many dates do I need to enter?

Usually three or four, mixing work days and days off, spread over a couple of weeks. With fewer, several schedules can fit, and the finder names a date to check.

What if more than one schedule fits?

Look up the date the finder suggests on your roster and add what you work that day. That date splits the schedules that fit.

Can it find my firefighter platoon?

Yes. It tries 24/48, 48/96, 24/72 and the California roll. Enter the days you were on duty as “24-hour shift” or “Any shift”, and days off as “Off”.

Why doesn’t my rotation fit?

A traded shift, an overtime shift, a Kelly day or a mistyped date stops a match. Leave out unusual days, or choose “My own cycle” and type your pattern.

Can I see the result as a calendar?

Yes. Each result has a link that opens the right shift calendar set to your crew and cycle start, where you can download the year for your phone or as a PDF.

Is what I enter stored anywhere?

Only in this browser, so the dates are still there next time. Nothing you enter is uploaded.
